A fancy place to sit and read and watch the ocean going by.
Food! Buffets every day, Pizza, sandwiches, fish and chips, ice cream, restaurants which fancy food and appetizers and dessert, breakfasts sent to our room (tea in bed, lovely!). Steve and I didn't really over-eat but we never actually felt hungry the entire trip. Strange feeling, really :) Yum - I wish I could go back and eat some more!
Steve and I went to a "show" of some kind every night. There were three song/dance shows: a New Orleans one, Beatles one and a Swing themed one. So fun and SO "showy." We sat in this fancy theatre in a seat made for two and swayed with the boat as the show went on. We also went to a "newlyweds" type show, two comedians and a "talent" show of our fellow cruisers.
At one of our ports, we were "shuttled" onto the island. There is a different word for it, but I forget :) Tendered? Anyway, I really enjoyed that little boat ride! The water was turquoise and the wind was so warm.
Steve and I explored the beach there on that island of Cancun. No sand on this beach - just lava like ground with many very interesting fossils and shells... and creatures in the tide pools.
Steve is pointing to our room's window! We were at the very back of the boat and could see where we have been. It was so lovely to be rocked to sleep every night and the ship also made great "white noise."
In Jamaica, Steve climbed this Banyan tree. Those things hanging down are the trees roots. When the roots reach the ground, a new "tree" or trunk is started.
Fun for swinging on, too.
But really, most of our time was spent laying around in the sun reading. Steve enjoyed the swimming, hot tubs and waterslide (ha ha) more than I did but I enjoyed that he was enjoying them (above he is in the salt-water pool). Reading and laying around (and lots of napping) and people watching was my favourite.
Mini-golf with the ocean as your view? Ok!
Below: Movies to watch on the big screen at night? Ok!
This last picture is of our airplane back to Detroit and in the distance with the large blue "fin" is our cruise ship! Crazy that we have traveled.
We had an amazing time and will always have great memories of our 12 and half anniversary!
I've been waiting for these pictures to come up! I'm so glad that you were able to get away and that you had a wonderful time! And I was happy to be able to help out! You're probably glad that you have these photos--by this time it seems like a dream, I'm sure!
