Yesterday I went along with Nadine's class to the Fanshawe Pinoeer Village. It was so neat! I had been there before as a child and also brought my class there when I was teaching but it is WAY more fun to go as a parent! :) I was the leader of Nadine's group and the girls were chatty and fun and sweet. The leaders of the Pioneer Village were also quite fun and engaging and really made the Village believable.

All those "nick-nack racks"!!! :)
I forgot my camera for the first half and missed the log cabin (so dark!) and the school house (the best part, I think. We sang "God Save the Queen," had hygiene inspection, couldn't write with our left hands, practiced elocution, used slates, girls and boys in separate doors, corporal punishment.. just kidding on that last one)
On the bus on the way home. The girls were dressing up their "stuffies" and having a fashion show.
It was really great to hang out with Nadine and see her class interacting. They are a really fun class - respectful and caring to each other and like being "just kids." It was a blessing to see that Nadine is doing very well in this environment (way more vocal than I thought her to be at school, she lead the prayer and devotion at lunch time, answered questions, volunteered herself) and that her class and teacher and school have been a wonderful environment for Nadine, too.
Looks like you had a good time at the Pioneer Village. I always enjoyed taking my class to a pioneer village--and was always grateful that I wasn't a pioneer!
ReplyDeleteAh! The Pioneer Village! I would love to go back!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny seeing Nadine a little blonde head among the mass of other blonde heads :)
And Nadine led prayer and devotions! What a brave girl!!! I love that she's a little chatter at school... I've shared with her my woeful tales of being seated at the front of the class for talking too much and she told me that she gets in trouble too :)
Haha! Corporal punishment! I took that so in stride that I had to double-check what you were kidding about :)
